#3 Let the Bean Roast

The internal temperature for a light roast is 356 to 401 degrees Fahrenheit. This type of roast has higher acidity and lighter taste.
Medium roast requires a temperature of 410 to 428 degrees Fahrenheit. The beans are still dry and relatively hard. The roast falls on the second crack. A medium roast has a mid-level acidity and stronger aroma compared to the light roast.
A medium-dark roast reaches a temperature between 437 to 446 degrees Fahrenheit and falls on the second crack. However, you will notice that oil begins to appear on the surface. This type of roast has a heavier taste.
Dark roast is quite dangerous to do at home. You will need the right equipment for dark roasting. The temperature can reach up to 464 to 482 degrees Fahrenheit, causing the bean’s surface to become oily. Also, it falls on the second crack.
#4 Transfer the Coffee
Once you reach the desired roasting level, transfer the coffee into a colander, stir, and let it cool.
#5 Store the Coffee
Pour the coffee in an air-tight container. Make sure to store it in a dark and cool location. Exposure to air, moisture, sunlight, and heat can damage the coffee’s quality and freshness.
